Whether you fancy traditional or modern, wish to look on or join in, seek out the quiet life or the wild life, enjoy the indoors or the great outdoors there's always something happening, whatever the time of year.
Rockness and Belladrum are two of Scotland’s most important music festivals while Castle Stuart golf links host the Scottish Open Golf Championships – one of the top events on professional golf’s European tour. If you prefer participation, the Loch Ness Marathon and festival of running is one of Scotland’s biggest – and the most scenic. Of course size isn’t everything - Inverness Highland Games (staged in the world’s oldest Highland Games Stadium), Blas Festival and the Happyness Comedy Festival are smaller but just as entertaining.
The city’s largest venue - Eden Court Theatre has a wide programme of events including many of the country’s top performers and national touring productions such as Scottish Ballet. The more intimate Eden Court cinema complements the screenings at the larger Vue cinema. Another venue offering performances from bands to comedy is the Ironworks while a number of pubs and clubs offer everything from jazz to traditional music sessions ( Hootanannay have these daily) and pianists to up and coming bands.
