Inverness has a wide programme of events across the year with many of these neatly packaged into our four seasonal festivals. The festivals include spring and summer favourites such as the Inverness whisky festival, Inverness Highland Games, the River Ness raft race, and the Northern Meeting Piping competition as well as a new Jazz Festival for 2016. But things don't stop when the dark nights arrive with events such as the bonfire nights fireworks, November's Inverness film festival, Inverness Hogmanay and the snowman rally to keep you entertained.
Music is also a big theme with festivals covering both traditional and contemporary music. Inverness music festival held every March involves some of the Highlands finest young musicians while the Blas festival in September celebrates Highland culture with leading artists in traditional music and Gaelic such as award winning Julie Fowlis. There's a more contemporary feel at events such as Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, the Summer in the City concerts and Rock Ness which has been recognised at the prestigious NME awards as the UK's "best small festival".
More recent additions include the Happyness comedy festival when some of the biggest names in stand up including Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran, Fred Macaulay and Ardal O’Hanlon have visited our city or the Northhop Craft beer festival - new for 2014 and already committed to return in August 2015.
